Went Chinatown yesterday. Finally. Had been wanting to go since years ago. Though I have nothing in mind to buy, it's still nice being in the joyful crowd shopping for CNY.
Yesterday I was very mean. I laughed at people running for bus again. Okay, CNY resolution: I will try to stop laughing at people running for bus.
Happy Lunar New Year Everyone! :)
Brought this Kitty Balloon back home! :) Hung her on my parent's room's door when I got home, wanting to surprise them. I think my mummy likes this balloon alot. Notice the kitty has got no legs? Cos I asked the uncle to cut them away so my balloon can fly. If not she is supposed to float-walk on the floor.
Attended Wen Jin's concert with Toon Li! We had a quick dinner and headed to Jubilee Hall.
Honestly I enjoyed the concert alot. It has been a long time since I last attended a concert. Brought back lots of my sec and jc memories. The Duman times when almost all my classmates were from music CCAs and hence the frequent persuading to attend band and string ensemble concerts. And not forgetting, being part of Chinese Orchestra, the weekly orchestra practices, sectional practices and annual concert. The RJ times where we practised at the old campus, carrying the instruments to the LT because the CO room was too small, practising at the new campus where we had a bigger and air conditioned room. And of cos SYF competition. Definitely wont forget how late we stayed in school till for the competition, having dinner together at Bishan before practising again and the joy we shared among us, the teacher in charge and my conductor when we got gold. Miss those times...
Bumped into Ee Suan and Jie Hui.. Havent seen Ee Suan for ages.
And the composer for one of the songs played during the concert..
Gathered at Changi Jetty at 930am.
Off we go! 1.5 hour of bump boat ride. No sea sick during the ride though the water were rather choppy. But lotsa splashing water..
Sharon and I, still dry and clean..
Sharon and I, wet and dirty..
Sharon was saying that we looked like refugees..
And we asked the rest of them to put on the refugees' expression..
Arrived! I was rather paranoid. Lotsa neative thoughts in my mind.. What if the plank I was standing on give way.. What if the whole kelong was detached from the ground... What if the kelong caught fire... What if there were some bad guy around the kelong with us... I took much care in every step that I took. It's really so different seeing water below in between the wooden planks compared to solid stagnant ground.
Our Nasi Lemak lunch!
Touring around before the meeting started..
The toilet! I looked down into the hole and saw water and perhaps a few fishes. How can it be.. How can the people just urinate into the seawater.. Maybe urine is not as ridiculous as shit. And toilet paper. AND sanitary pad.
Though I was very determined not to use the toilet, I used it in the end. Twice somemore. No choice leh. The kelong was rather open and sunny, had to drink lotsa water. I tried my best.
Getting ready for fishing!
A nice buyer came over to buy live fishes for CNY and allowed us to catch the 20 fishes for him. The helper just removed one of the many planks and dropped the line with bait down. He demostrated to us how to catch the thousand over fishes they reared below the kelong.
See the biggest fish among all on the right? I caught it. :) Super heavy. The helper said it's around 1kg.
Start of meeting!
Break time! Went to the back of the kelong where there were 3 huge dogs and many other fishes and potential dinner dishes.
Bagful of shell creature. Not sure if it's Gong Gong or LaLa.
Back to meeting...
End of meeting and Dinner time! :) The dinner was good. We had steamboat, black pepper crab, steam fish, noodle, cereal prawn..
Pretty Sunset! :)
Karaoke.. The system wasnt that good and the songs were rather outdated. But still, it's better than nothing. I cant imagine myself living in the kelong permanently. I think I will go mad. Not much entertainment, cant meet my friends, cant use internet.. And the idea of eating those fishes which might have drank my urine, in contact with my shit. Seriously Gross. The toilets are at the corner and the nets with reared fishes are just beside where the toilets are.
It's freezing cold at night. Was sitting under the moon and telling Ying Ying that Giu Giu felt very cold cos I never bring her any jacket. So, I put her...
And I made Ying Ying try it too.. No entertainment so gotta entertain ourselves..
BBQ food for supper! The other group of visitors bought Gong Gong for BBQ.. These Gong Gong were still alive. Sharon and I were playing with them till the owner of the kelong reminded us twice that these dont belong to us. Haha.
The next day morning...
Some of them slept outside. It's really freezing cold. I dont understand how they tolerate the cold wind.
Giu Giu and Ying Ying's Yaya.
That's how our sleeping area looks like.
Morning seafood porridge breakfast. :)
Sitting outside enjoying my porridge. The feeling was quite nice.. It really felt like a brand new day.
And Sharon started using my camera, zooming in to the max..
My second fav photo pose..
And I made the rest of them do the pose..
Our photographer...
Going back to Singapore... :)
